inspired by women's daily: handling critcism

assalaamualaikum w.b.t. ahlan wasahlan wa marhaban bikum. :D

deal with the boss who finds fault with your work, and the friend who constantly complains, with the right response... today,, i wanna share one article i read in

THE MALAYSIAN WOMEN'S WEEKLY, NOV 2011.

it is not the original one as i already edited it to make it shorter,, i hope this entry will help us to improve ourselves. read and apply them in our daily lives,, enjoy!!!

The Malaysian Women's Weekly
  • don't get too defensive~~ offering excuses only makes you look incompetent and your boss more determined to prove you wrong.
DON'T LET CRITICISM BLOCK YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS. view it positively.
  • but when it's destructive~~ undermining and often goes something like, 'your work is sloppy, you're hopeless'
TRY NOT TO GET UPSET. STAY CALM. JUST DISAGREE saying, 'my work is not always sloppy and i'm certainly not hopeless'
  • it affects your self-esteem~~ if you let it, it will undermine your self-esteem. like, 'your desk is a mess. you're disorganised.
RESPOND ASSERTIVELY. THE KEY IS SELF CONFIDENCE: you believe you can change, but only if you want to.
  • get the facts~~ when you're not sure whether the criticism is valid and constructive, you're feeling confused.
DON'T BE TOO QUICK TO VAGUE. ASK FOR MORE DETAILS. use the info to help resolve problems and move forward.
  • be responsible~~ offering excuses will undermine your relationship
AGREE WITH YOUR CRITIC WHEN THEY'RE RIGHT. it will make you feel better and look good in her eyes.
  • agree in part~~ it's tough to handle when the accusation goes something like; 'you're so unreliable. you forgot to pay the bills. you're never here when i need you'
AGREE WITH THE ACCURATE PART OF WHAT THE CRITIC IS SAYING. remove any destructive power the criticism might have.

apply k,, hehe,, let's pray to be better tomorrow,,,
